La Araucana Resort is, in the words of a recent guest, simply magical. This exclusive resort sits on nearly 20 acres of land, cradled at the base of the Andes Chapelco mountain range in Argentina.

The Lodge was lovingly designed and built in 1997 as a personal exotic get away for the de Alvear Family and contains furniture and decor collected from trips around the world. It was transformed into a luxury boutique resort in 2006. Each bathroom is unique, one imported from Italy, one from England, one from Spain, one from America and one handmade in Argentina specifically for the lodge. Additionally, each room is unique (three with walk in closets) and contains luxurious furniture imported or hand-made for only those rooms.

The Main house (over 5000 square feet) boasts a dining room that seats 14 people, a luxurious Master Suite (at 861 sq ft) with a fireplace, walk in closet and private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. Four additional bedrooms each have bathrooms. The living room has a cavernous fireplace perfect for huge fires on a cool evening. There is a comfortable family room with separate bathroom on the lower floor, a luxurious sitting area on the upper floor, a laundry room and fully equipped kitchen. The entire lodge is wrapped in decks for enjoying every moment of the stunning outdoor scenery. There is a garage (605 square feet), a barn (2303 square feet), a chapel (322 square feet) and a second house (900 square feet).

The property has potable water, gas from town, internet with Wi-Fi, Direct TV in both houses, 2 telephone lines, 220voltage for electricity and the stunning gardens are maintained by a sprinkler system.

The property is secluded yet not isolated and has a private entrance bridge over a year round river. The property is surrounded by a perimeter fence 6 feet high. The nearest town, San Martin de los Andes, is only a few miles away and the nearest airport is a convenient 20 minute drive away.

Guests have an array of world class activities to participate in including fly fishing, golfing at a nearby Jack Nicklaus designed course, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, canoeing, bird watching, zip lines and exclusive nature tours.
